Anchorage, AK: The Aleut Corporation (Aleut) announces the acquisition of the Fairbanks-based Richards Distributing, Inc. (RDI) lines of business: Renewable Energy Systems, Arctic Home Living, and Alaska EcoWater Systems. This strategic acquisition strengthens Aleut’s business portfolio by expanding its footprint in Alaska and diversifying offerings to deliver greater value to its shareholders.
RDI, founded by Rob and Karlene Richards, has been a trusted name in Alaska for decades. Since opening Alaska EcoWater Systems in 1997, Arctic Home Living soon thereafter, and Renewable Energy Systems in 2014, RDI has upheld their reputation for delivering quality products and services in renewable energy, water treatment, retail hot tubs, and residential spas. With retail locations in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and the Mat-Su Valley, RDI has built a strong track record of successful projects across Alaska, driven by its dedicated employees—making it a natural fit for Aleut’s mission-driven approach.
“This acquisition aligns with Aleut’s vision for sustainable, balanced growth,” said Skoey Vergen, Aleut’s President and CEO. “RDI’s strengths in renewable energy and retail, combined with their exceptional reputation and expertise, will allow us to expand our impact across Alaska while continuing to drive value for our shareholders. We’re thrilled to welcome the entire RDI team into the Aleut family of companies.”
RDI’s business operations will transition under Aleut’s newest subsidiary, Aleut Energy LLC, led by Nick Goodman as President. Goodman brings over 20 years of leadership experience across renewable energy, government contracting, and hospitality industries to this role with Aleut Energy, complimenting the business lines’ decades-long presence in Alaska.
RDI’s senior leadership, including Jeremy Lane and Eddie Davidson, will remain with the company, ensuring a seamless transition and continuity of operations. Importantly, there will be no layoffs or restructuring as a result of this acquisition. Aleut Energy is committed maintaining the high standards of service that customers have come to expect from RDI’s trusted brands. Jeremy Lane will assume the role of Senior Vice President within Aleut Energy.
Nick Goodman remarked, “RDI’s focus on delivering innovative solutions in energy and water systems complements Aleut’s commitment to building resilient and sustainable businesses. We’re excited to bring their expertise and community-centered values into Aleut Energy, positioning us for future growth in Alaska’s renewable energy and retail markets.”
Founders Rob and Karlene Richards will stay engaged during the transition period, supporting operations before stepping into their well-deserved retirement
