My name is Qaadax̂.
My family is from Tanax̂-Amix̂, the Land of Mother’s Brother. I am Unanĝax from the Unaaĝin tribe.
I was born and raised on Dena’ina Lands in Anchorage, Alaska. I am an Unangax̂ artist.
Qaadax̂ Studio was founded in 2020 to exemplify intergenerational Unangax̂ art.
Our Unangax̂ culture and art embodies the connections between the Alaĝux̂ (ocean), Tanax̂ (land), Algan (land animals), Anĝin (spirits) and Hadamax̂tix̂ (family; community).
Through my art I enjoy highlighting our ancestral crafts, practices and creative innovations that have been resilient to colonization in my own perspective as an Unangam Masuqaĝii.
