This year the meeting took place on April 23rd with 14 participants present and 8 by teleconference.
President/CEO Mack introduced new executive staff and gave an update on Aleut Corporation’s current events which included the 2018 Shareholder dividend of $10/share and a $1000 elder benefit for those who are 60 years or older as of March 31, 2018. This year’s 7(j) payment to at-large shareholders and village corporations is $19.21 per share. He also reported on TAC Board goals and the Village Visit schedule. Fisheries Manager Kay Larson-Blair reported on the goals of Adak which included the pollock fishery allocation, creating a vibrant and profitable fishing and processing industry, developing transshipment port and marketing as a strategic location for military positioning. Cynthia Lind, Executive Director for The Aleut Foundation, introduced Luke Stowe as the new Development Director and relayed important scholarship information and deadline dates. Village representatives presented their community projects and upcoming Culture Camps.
One of the main purposes of the President’s Roundtable is to foster positive, two-way communication between the Aleut Corporation and the Village Corporations and learn how we can work together for the betterment of all Aleut people no matter where we live. President/CEO Mack looks forward to this event annually and thanks all the Village Corporation’s representatives in attendance for participating.
