I hope all of you are healthy and well during this unprecedented time. I want to personally thank you for everything you are doing to help slow the spread of COVID-19. At The Aleut Corporation, we continue to monitor COVID-19 information and follow directives put forth by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the Alaska Department of Health and Human Services, as well as the State of Alaska and Municipality of Anchorage’s guidelines, directives, and Emergency Orders. The Aleut Corporation corporate office remains closed but is fully operational – you can reach our Shareholder Relations department by phone or email if you need assistance or have questions.
The Board of Directors held their regularly scheduled May board meeting via Webex, and you will find the outcomes of that meeting in this newsletter as well as information regarding the 2020 Annual Meeting of Shareholders. While I look forward to our in-person meetings and celebrations each year, the COVID-19 pandemic has made those type of events unachievable. I unfortunately will be unable to visit the communities in the Aleut Region this year. The Board of Directors has also made the decision to hold the 2020 Annual Meeting of Shareholders virtually via webcast and telephonically in the interest of everyone’s health and safety. Although we will not be meeting in-person, you will be able to view or listen to the 2020 Annual Meeting. Please read the article in this issue for more information regarding the 2020 Annual Meeting of Shareholders. In addition to this information we will continue to provide updates via social media and the eCurrent. I appreciate your understanding during these unique times.
June marks the beginning of summer in Alaska and the beginning of new opportunities for many of our shareholders and descendants who graduated this year. Congratulations on your hard work and accomplishments! While I know that this summer may not be like any other due to the pandemic, I hope that you will be able to take advantage of this time to explore and plan for future opportunities as well as enjoy the outdoors.
