The Aleut Foundation would like to congratulate all our students who graduated during the 2022-2023 school year. Thank you to family members and friends who have supported them along the way. We have at least five students graduating with doctorates this year. We are so in awe of the dedication and perseverance of all our students! Awam ix̂amnaa (Good job)!
This summer, The Aleut Foundation is supporting several internships, including two students placed with The Aleut Corporation’s subsidiaries. If you are a student graduating from high school, in college or a recent college graduate, we would like to talk with you to see if we can support you in your efforts to participate in a paid internship.
The Aleut Foundation had a busy spring to get ready for June. We had students travel from the region for the ANSEP Middle School Academy; a weeklong program where students built their own computers. We had several students travel from the region and the Lower 48 to Anchorage for the Urban Unangax̂ Culture Camp. We held The Aleut Picnic on June 24, and it was a wonderful time of meeting with family and friends and to celebrate with our Unangax̂ dances. In early July, we will be announcing our Cash for Good Grades & Attendance winners.
On top of the scholarships for those attending a post-secondary college or university, we also support those in vocational and career development opportunities. For vocational training, we have served students doing welding, construction, electrical, IT, CDL, medical billing, and more. Our career development opportunities have spanned students getting their GED, professional license preparation, professional conferences, or continuing education. As we are moving forward as an organization, our Board of Directors has created a Board Development plan and is currently seeking a new board member. Please, check our website for information on becoming a board member for The Aleut Foundation. It is a volunteer position, and you will be impacting the future direction of The Aleut Foundation.
